Livermore, ME, June 22, 2009 – Multi-tasking was the theme of the night for Coombs Motorsports Saturday at Oxford Plains Speedway. With their spotter caught at Bike Week the Coombs Motorsports team members stepped up to bring home an eighth place finish.

The 57 team ran in the top three of the first and second practices. For the first time since the start of the season, the team started and finished fifth in the high point heat with other weekly Late Model standouts.

In the feature, the Coombs Motorsports team started in the 15’th position. On lap 10, contact between the eventual winner, Nick Brown, and Ron Charpentier caused the three wide field to check up and sent another competitor spinning between turns three and four. To avoid the wreck Coombs drove to the top of the track, dropping a tire off the asphalt in the process and spinning out as well.

After being considered part of the caution, Coombs restarted in the 18’th position. When the race resumed, Coombs stayed patient and waited for the slower cars to clear the outside groove. Once he had racing room Coombs began chasing down the front pack, led by Brown, passing three cars on lap 28 to crack the top ten.

Coombs would once again be hampered by a slower car driven by Jeff White, but would manage to gain and maintain the eighth position for the last two laps of the race.

The Coombs Motorsports team will be back in action on Thursday July 2 and Saturday July 4. The races will be the final tune-up for the Coombs Motorsports team before attempting to qualify for the 36’th annual TD Banknorth 250. For more information, please visit: or
